AnyLogic Cloud 2.5.3: discover new possibilities

We're excited to announce the AnyLogic Cloud 2.5.3 release! It brings significant improvements in the upgraded Completed runs view and single sign-on (SSO) support. This update is already live for AnyLogic Cloud SaaS, so feel free to open your models or check out public models to explore the new features.

If you're using Private Cloud, check the administrator guide for details on setting up LDAPS, review improvements in the Private Cloud diagnostics utility, and set up custom Java machine arguments if necessary.

Better Completed runs view with error runs

The Completed runs view allows you to track and analyze the results of all model runs in a convenient table format. Whether you're running experiments via the web interface or the Cloud API, this new view provides insights into inputs, outputs, and results.

With the release of AnyLogic Cloud 2.5.3, the Completed runs view got even better. From now on, it shows all finished runs, whether they were completed successfully or failed due to errors. Failed runs have a red-colored counter. The error text and stack trace are shown in a detailed run view instead of run results.

You may sort and filter the failed and successfully completed runs using the Status column. If you don't see it on your screen, click on the Settings icon, choose it from the Hidden column, click on the Eye icon, and then click on Save after you see it in the Shown section.

The Completed runs view is designed to help you analyze multi-run experiments such as Monte Carlo, Optimization, or Parameter Variation. During these experiments, some runs may fail because of incorrect input combinations or issues in the model logic. The feature makes it easy to:

  • Find failed runs.
  • See their input parameters and random seed values.
  • Rerun them with animation to identify what went wrong.

You can also download an Excel file with all completed runs for further analysis or reporting.

Use Completed runs to save time, find errors faster, and improve your models more confidently.

Improvements in AnyLogic Private Cloud

Out-of-the-box LDAP over SSL/TLS support

AnyLogic Private Cloud meets the advanced security requirements of modern enterprises, offering full support for custom authorization providers like OAuth, Active Directory, and LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol).

Starting with version 2.5.3, enabling LDAP over SSL/TLS (LDAPS) is easier than ever. There is no need to rebuild Docker images or manage complex configurations. Now, you can set up LDAPS in just a few steps:

  1. Configure your registration.json and ldap.json files.
  2. Add the certificate and private key to the certs directory of the rest service.
  3. Restart the controller and rest services.

That's it—all LDAP communication is now encrypted. With AnyLogic Private Cloud, secure authentication is not just possible; it's streamlined.

Improved diagnostics utility

If something goes wrong during the installation of AnyLogic Private Cloud, host maintenance, or other system administration tasks, it is crucial to identify the root cause. This often involves checking system parts such as SSH status, occupied port, etc.

In version 2.4.1, we introduced the Diagnostics Utility to save time and simplify this process. This collects essential system and product information into a single archive that helps you detect possible flaws.

From version 2.5.3, the utility is even more powerful. It now includes product configuration files, docker logs, file limits, inode usage, and iptables. These improvements help make troubleshooting faster and easier.

If you have issues using the utility or decoding the diagnostics results, contact the AnyLogic Support Team with the generated archive attached. Our experts will help you right away.

Custom Java machine arguments

Thanks to the Java-based architecture of AnyLogic models, it's easy to integrate them with third-party software and libraries. However, some older tools may not be fully compatible with newer Java versions—for example, the Snowflake JDBC driver can cause issues when used with Java 17.

To solve such compatibility problems, you can use Java machine arguments to enable specific features or support outdated software. For Snowflake, adding the following argument resolves the issue:

--add-opens java.base/java.nio=ALL-UNNAMED

In AnyLogic 8, this can be added to the Advanced section of the experiment properties.

From AnyLogic Cloud version 2.5.3, Java machine arguments can also be defined in the executor.json configuration file.

These settings apply to all models executed in your Private Cloud instance. Restart the executor service via the Private Cloud Administrator Panel to activate the changes.

This feature gives you more control and flexibility when running models, especially when compatibility matters.

Other notable improvements and changes

AnyLogic Cloud 2.5.3 brings several more important updates and improvements to enhance usability, security, and compatibility:

  • OAuth support via AnyLogic desktop
You can now log in to AnyLogic Cloud using OAuth directly from the desktop application (starting from AnyLogic 8.9.5).
  • Improved access for non-activated instances
The Private Cloud web interface is now fully accessible even without activation. Please note that model execution remains unavailable until the instance is activated.
  • Updated licensing requirements
Activation of Private Cloud 2.5.3 now requires AnyLogic Team License Server 3.3.
  • Simplified architecture
The Cassandra and Statistics components have been removed from the product. As a result, only versions 2.5.0, 2.5.1, and 2.5.2 can be directly upgraded to 2.5.3. If you're running an older version, please upgrade to one of these first. Our support team is available to guide you through the process.
